Printing & Packaging

Printing and packaging businesses must find smart ways to maintain profit.

But evolving challenges like material losses and production scrap, fast-paced variety and innovation, high transportation costs, complex working capital management, and seemingly ever-increasing material costs, can make it difficult to even identify smarter and more dependable income streams.

Based on our long experience helping businesses across all sectors, we use  our market-proven transformation expertise, rooted in Lean, with cutting-edge digital technologies, to instill agile processes and new ways of thinking. We identify where change is needed, and we make it – from the bottom up and the top down. Take process inherent waste, a significant issue in printing and packaging. While some waste is unavoidable, there are considerable savings to be made, such as by identifying and eliminating over-processing and over-production, and by identifying defects at source.

It's also crucial to fully understand supplier and customer requirements to ensure optimal throughput and output speeds, and to reduce the amount of working capital tied up in stockpiled products. Meanwhile, habitual ‘push’ production of more than the customer asked for is needlessly wasteful. Instead, using a digitally-integrated customer demand to set production pace and volume – digitized ‘pull’ production – can cut waste considerably. It all adds up to more efficiency, fewer resources and lower costs.

Put simply, we apply a Lean digital transformation perspective to view value from the customer’s standpoint and better understand what they actually want - enabling you to align production with demand, digitize, eliminate waste, and build a more robust platform for sustainable growth and profitability.

LEAN PRINTING & PACKAGING

Printing & packaging is the industry that procures, converts and delivers the materials necessary to create a product’s distinct brand look and appeal. A typical company in this industry is procuring raw materials, shaping them, printing on them, and finally delivering them to the consumer goods companies. Consumer goods companies will then use them to package their products and sell them to the end customer. The overwhelmingly high variety and precision that characterises the industry has resulted in the existence of lots of small, specialised converters. These converters are being squeezed between big raw materials producing/sourcing companies on one side and big consumer goods companies on the other side, with little room to negotiate.
